Ranking characters in Kingdom is a bit tricky since intelligence also plays a huge part in General’s strength. Some generals are great in physical strength, while some in tactics and others have skills in both. I will try to rank the characters in all three separate categories. Also, this article will be skewed towards Qin side as we see them the most.
Strongest Characters In Both Strength and Tactics
10. Tou
State: Qin
After Ouki passed away, Tou took over the reign of Ouki’s army and become its leader. He was one of the first two Generals to be known as Great General in Sei’s reign.
He is also one of Qin’s Great six currently which gives an idea of his greatness. Ouki himself said that Tou won’t lose to even Ouki himself. He is both tactically and physically great. He is an expert in Swordsmanship and he is very agile in the field. His tactical prowess is also high on par with the best of the strategists.
9. Kanmei
State: Chu
Kanmei was a Great General from Chu and acted as the Commander-in-chief of the Chu army during the Coalition Invasion arc. Becoming a General in Chu isn’t an easy task as there are the largest in terms of population and landmass. That should explain Kanmei’s positioning here.
Kanmei was even considered by Shouheikun to be the strongest man in China. His tactical skills aren’t the greatest but aren’t bad by any means. He battled Moubu and was dominating him for the majority of their fight. If we had seen more of him. he could have been put even higher but the only time we saw him was his loss.
8. Moubu
State: Qin
Moubu is currently one of Qin’s Great Six Generals and one of the physically strongest characters in the series. He was one of the first two Generals to be elected as Great General under Sei’s reign along with Tou.
Moubu’s physical strength is probably the strongest in the entire country currently but his tactical prowess is very poor. Moubu had the best achievement in the Coalition Invasion war by defeating Kanmei who was said to be the strongest in the world. If he had better tactical prowess he would have been even higher up on the list.
7. Yotanwa
State: Qin
Yotanwa is currently one of Qin’s Great Six Generals and the King of the Mountain Tribes in Qin and the leader of the Confederation of Xirong mountain tribes. Known as the Lord of Death, Yotanwa has done the impossible task of taking control of several different Mountain tribes under her.
She is the most skilled sword user in the entire mountain realm and this makes her one of the strongest in China. She has defeated strong warriors like Bajio, Shunmen, and Goba and took them under her control. She took on the toughest task in terms of numbers in the invasion of the Western Zhao campaign by battling both Shunsuiju’s Zhao army and the mountain tribe of Quanrong. She is also tactically adept which can be seen in her plan to capture Ryouyou.
6. Karin
State: Chu
Karin is a mysterious general compared to others on the list. She is currently one of the two Prime Ministers of Chu and also Commander in Chief of Chu’s army. Though her physical strength is unknown, her tactical prowess is one of the best in the series.
She shined the most in the battle of Kankoku pass. She suggested the plan of attrition warfare which Riboku accepted as a great plan and made the entire Coalition follow it. Then she almost even captured the entrance of the pass which failed but wasn’t her fault. As Prime Minister, she stabilized the politics of Chu.
She could end up higher as the series progresses with Chu most likely being the final obstacle for Qin and we get to see more of her.
5. Kanki
State: Qin
Kanki is an ex-bandit and currently one of the Qin’s Six Great Generals. Kanki’s unorthodox tactics are one of the greatest in the series we have seen. His tactical prowess was seen in the Sanyou campaign and also in the Kankoku pass. His use of Sun Bin to defeat Kouchou is something that even Ousen wouldn’t dare to do.
He is strong physically too but it is unclear how great he is in that aspect. His leadership skills are great as he has several clans under his reign even though he isn’t the most compassionate leader. I wanted to include him higher but have put him below as he is yet to lead a big campaign. This current arc might ascend him higher on the list.
4. Ouki
State: Qin
Ouki is one of the former Six Great Generals of Qin and later fought under Sei’s reign. Ouki is an old general that is considered to be on par with the likes of Renpa. Even in the current timeline, he showed his Warfare skills in the battle of Bayou.
Ouki is said to be skilled greatly in both strategies and physical strength. His physical strength was so great that he could slice generals like Gikou and Shoumou pretty easily. He is a master in his use of his glaive. His leadership is unparalleled as he could raise morale by his presence alone.
Ouki could have been easily at the top of this list but unfortunately, we didn’t see his old battles. The only battle we saw was one where he lost the battle and ended up dead.
3. Renpa
State: Zhao\Wei\Chu
Renpa is one of the former Three Great Heavens of Zhao, who later led a battle for Wei and now currently residing in Chu. Renpa is an old general that is considered to be on par with the likes of Ouki. Even in the current timeline, he has shown his Warfare skills in the battle of Sanyou.
Renpa is said to be a strategic genius before the start of the war and once the war starts, he can become an Instinctual general with great physical prowess. He even outsmarted Ousen in the battle of wits and that shows his tactical genius. And Shin talked of the strike from Renpa as something stronger than Houken.
It is fair to say that he could even deserve the top spot but since we see him in only one battle and that too in a losing cause puts him below here.
2. Riboku
State: Zhao
Riboku is one of the Three Great Heavens of Zhao and also was the Prime Minister of Zhao. His tactical skills are second to none as he was able to defeat even Ouki. He also led the Coalition Army and managed to even sneak to Sai and would have succeeded in the destruction of Qin itself if Yotanwa’s army didn’t come to the rescue in time.
Riboku even without the help of his king managed to fight a battle against Qin’s Gyou invasion army and nearly succeeded. Ousen himself stated that both of them were equal in tactical prowess.
The reasons he isn’t first are his overreliance on Houken and also his two losses against Qin. Nevertheless, Riboku is still probably the most solid general on the list.
1. Ousen
State: Qin
Ousen is currently one of the Qin’s Six Great Generals and has an ambition of becoming a King himself. Ousen’s unorthodox tactics are one of the greatest in the series we have seen. His tactical prowess was seen in the Sanyou campaign, the battle of Kankoku pass, and more importantly Gyou invasion.
His use of using ordinary citizens to make the battle of Gyou a war of starvation is the best tactical move we have seen. Defeating Riboku in his home ground with odds stacked against Qin is the best achievement by a general we have seen yet. Though he isn’t physically strong, his tactical skills make up for it. It is fair to say Ousen has shown the strongest display of General skills in the series.
